Test drive Mitsubishi ASX 2020 - part 3

And how is the 2020 Mitsubishi ASX going? Is it fast with a 2.0L engine? Is a 1.6 liter engine enough?

Both cars are similar in their habits - and both are far from the concept of "dynamic crossover". Even the 2-liter version with 150 hp. (which is quite a lot for a car of this size and weight) still relies on a measured drive. The initial impulse when starting from a traffic light ends already at a speed of 30-50 km / h, when the variator starts to "play" the gear ratio: monotonous hum of the engine, "rubber" reactions to pressing the accelerator pedal ... Imitation of gear shifting slightly changes the tonality of the feeling of dynamics when accelerating with a pedal "to the floor".

However, I admit: it's better to let go of the pedal and enjoy smooth movement and soft acceleration - that's in this mode the Mitsubishi ASX is good. Then you don't pay too much attention to the neutral-empty steering wheel, while you take the roll of the car for granted. But you rejoice at the energy-intensive suspension, which relies on comfort: under the quiet slaps of the tires, the car flies through any irregularities, holes, patches - everything is within reach! I mean: on the wheel ...

In addition to color, the two test cars almost matched the weather: in one case it was damp, in the other it was cold. Will Mitsubishi ASX be able to "ignite and warm"? More likely no than yes - both cars rely on comfort and measured driving style. But the confidence "to get there" is colossal here, especially in the 2-liter version: four-wheel drive, forced locking of the clutch, L-mode of the variator, increased ground clearance (215 mm) allow you to boldly storm mud and slopes. Or cut circles like this as in the photo: the variator is resistant to overheating - it has a radiator for cooling the oil. Contrary to the claimed 0-100 km / h acceleration of almost 12 seconds, the car actually turns out to be faster: the 2-liter Mitsubishi ASX 2020 steadily left me out of 10 seconds.
