FlixBus will launch a BlaBlaCar competitor under the name FlixCar
FlixMobility, the parent company of the FlixBus and FlixTrain brands, has raised € 500 million in investment and is about to launch a competitor to the BlaBlaCar service called FlixCar.
The money was raised from private investment firms TCV and Permira, after this round, the total cost of FlixMobility is estimated at more than 2 billion euros.
One of the founders and CEO of the company, Johan Engert, said that the raised money will be spent on development at a global level: FlixBus plans to enter the Latin American and Asian markets in 2020. FlixMobility is also going to create its own carpooling service FlixCar - an analogue of BlaBlaCar, which will increase the coverage of the route network.
“We initially positioned ourselves not as a bus or transport company, but rather as a mobility provider: we offer smart, affordable and sustainable travel, whether it be bus, train or - very soon - a car.
FlixCar is a logical step towards expanding our network so that even more people can see the world. On average, the vehicle occupancy rate is only 1.5 people per vehicle. Sharing a trip with someone else is a great way to save on gas and reduce your ecological footprint, ”said Engert.
Recall that earlier BlaBlaCar announced its entry into the bus transportation market under the BlaBlaBus brand. The company also plans to enter the Ukrainian market, but Ukrainian passengers will not see the BlaBlaBus brand, as the company will focus on a partnership approach to work with Ukrainian road carriers.
Vodafone will create a smart parking system Smart Parking in Kharkiv
The mobile operator Vodafone said that within the framework of the Vodafone Smart City project in Kharkiv, a system of “smart” car parking Smart Parking will be deployed, which provides the driver with all the necessary information in real time. This way, motorists can save time and fuel when searching for a parking space, which will ultimately help reduce overall traffic congestion.
In particular, the user will be able to find out about the availability of a parking space and pay for the service using the application in the smartphone. This allows you to maintain parking online: control the payment of the cost of parking services, taking into account different tariffs, parking duration, time of day, parking place and zone. Since the system provides a convenient service for payment, it will help increase revenue from the provision of services and the system for issuing fines for violations of parking rules.
How Smart Parking will work for the driver:
The driver approaches his destination and wants to find parking nearby.
It focuses on electronic road signs or information in the phone about the location of free seats.
Using a navigator or smartphone, quickly finds the nearest parking spaces.
Pays for parking using a smartphone or a parking meter.
With the help of a license plate recognition camera, the parking gate opens automatically if the client has paid through the application - in case it is a closed parking.
The Smart Parking system should cover all municipal city parking lots in Kharkiv, as well as become part of the situational center of the city, which is currently under development. At the moment, "smart" parking is deployed at one of the city's sites in a test mode.
Recall that the Vodafone Smart City Kharkiv project is being implemented jointly with the City Council, the Kharkiv Reform Office and the Kharkiv IT Cluster and provides for the introduction of "smart" technologies into the system of municipal management and the social sphere of the city's public life.
