Warsaw orders 130 electric buses for $ 100 million from local company Solaris to replace diesel buses on historic Royal Route

 After Milan ordered 250 electric buses from the Polish company Solaris, Warsaw drew attention to its products. The Polish capital has also decided to start getting rid of diesel buses in its public transport system and has placed an order with Solaris for 130 electric accordion buses.

 The customer was the local public transport operator MZA (Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe), who is ready to pay $ 100 million (PLN 400 million) for a batch of electric buses. Unlike the Urbino 12 models for Milan, the extended Urbino 18 electric buses, which are designed for 47 seats, will be delivered to Warsaw.

 The Urbino 18 electric bus is equipped with a 150 kWh battery with a seven-year warranty, which can be charged from high-speed charging stations with a capacity of up to 400 kW (ports are located at the beginning and end of the body - above the right front wheel arch and behind the last doors) or using a pantograph located on the roof ... Operator MZA said it will build its own charging network for the new electric buses.

 The entire batch will hit the roads of the Polish capital as early as 2020, with eco-friendly buses replacing all diesel models on the so-called "Royal Route" (Trakt Królewski), which houses a number of historic buildings. In just two years, Warsaw will have up to 400 buses with zero-emission or low-emission levels.

 Recall that Paris recently ordered 800 electric buses worth 400 million euros to replace old diesel buses on public transport routes. In turn, Ukraine wants to organize the assembly of Chinese Skywell electric buses, which have already been tested in Kiev.
